The Gospel – The Power Of God
You probably have prayed for a loved one to be saved. You may have prayed for a long time asking God to save that person. What is the problem?
Many people beg God for someone’s salvation and can’t understand why it hasn’t happened yet. We don’t have to ask the Lord to save a person. He has already made provision for the whole world to be saved. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost.
People are born again through the power of the Word of God. It is very important how we pray. Instead of God hearing about the lost, the lost need to hear the Word of God. Prayer is not a substitute for the Gospel.
Mt 9:35-38 (NKJV) –[35] Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. [36] But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. [37] Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. [38] “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
So how do we pray for the lost? Jesus said to pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. They need to hear the Word. We also should bind the influence of the devil who blinds them to spiritual truth (cf. 2Cor 4:4).
God is more motivated to save our loved ones than we are. We don’t need to plead with God, instead Holy Spirit needs to flow through people to reach people. Jesus said, “Holy Spirit witnesses about me” (Jn 15:26). He does that when we pray that others will come across their path sharing the good news (Gospel) with them, and we must do the same.
The Gospel is the power of God that releases the effects of salvation in our lives (Rom 1:16). If a person needs healing, it’s in the Gospel. If deliverance is needed, it’s in the Gospel. Prosperity, answered prayer, joy, peace, love – they are all found through hearing and believing the Gospel.
The Gospel is the good news that although we were all sinners and worthy of God’s wrath, in His love, He sent Jesus to be our substitute, bearing our punishment, so that we could be made completely righteous in His sight. It’s based only on our faith in the completed work of Christ and not our own performance. Now that’s GOOD NEWS!
Now, here is an example of how to pray.
Pray this with me:
Lord of the Harvest, send Spirit-filled laborers (Mt 9:38), to my lost loved ones today, to share the good news of the Gospel — so that they will listen and understand it (Rom 15:21). I believe that they will not be able to resist the courtship of the Holy Spirit.
With the authority of Jesus Christ given to me in (Mt 18:18). I bind the devil from his assignment of blindness against those who have the opportunity to make Jesus their Lord.
Holy Spirit, open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light — from the power of Satan – to You, Father (2Cor 4:4)!
Meet with them, Holy Spirit, and hover around my relatives and friends. Release Your awesome power to convict, and break the bondage of sin. Give them eyes to see, bring revelation, and draw them to You in order to cause the new birth in them.
Lord, thank You for teachers in the body of Christ, who can help disciple these new babes into the Kingdom of Righteousness. In the Name of Jesus, I claim and receive these eternal souls into the family of God. Amen!
God bless you my friend,
