VB025 The Word is My Protection

The Word is My Protection

[Ps 91:4; 119:105, 130; Prov 6:23]

Psalms 91:4 (NKJV) –He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

He shall cover you with His feathers, like a hen spreads her wings and protects her chicks. If you abide under the Almighty’s wings you are safe. His Truth protects you.

To take refuge means to flee for protection. We should run to the Lord for His protective covering.

His Truth means His stability, certainty, and trustworthiness.

A buckler is something surrounding you. So while under His wings and surrounded by His Word, you are safe and enclosed with protection.

The Word Is Protection Along Our Way.

Psalms 119:105 (NKJV) –Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

We are inexperienced in too many areas of life to be without a guide. The Bible is our guidebook. We need to use the Word of God if we are going to make it through life. Psalm 119 shows us so many features of God’s Word, and how it will dynamically assist us in all aspects of life. Verse 105 is the focal point of this chapter, showing that God’s Word lights the way, giving direction for each step of my feet, and giving wisdom and long-range plans to my path.

Verse 130 reiterates the light of God’s Word;

Psalms 119:130 (NKJV) –The entrance of Your word gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

The word translated “entrance” has been translated, “opening” in other places in the old testament. The Scriptures give adequate light to the mind upon every subject of life; and the Holy Spirit communicates more useful knowledge to the simplest believer, than the sharpest philosophers have been able to develop through the ages.

There is no reason to accuse God of anything dark, or to blame Him for an act of nature. He does not cause accidents. He does not make His loved ones sick. We should not be so careless with the Scriptures, because they are wonderful. An awesome light shines around us.

Proverbs 6:23 (NKJV) –For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

This Proverb reminds us that the “reproofs” or corrections in the Bible, are as much a part of the light it provides, as any other direction or instruction it gives us. Let God’s Word guide, correct, instruct, lead, teach, and confirm. Do not rush forward without it – EVER!

Without a lamp or light to show us the way through the darkness of this world, we will most definitely fall flat on our faces. The Bible will illuminate the right way to go, and keep us from stepping in the snare of the devil. Those who don’t use the light of God’s Word are sure to be captured by the enemy.

Confession:

El Shaddai covers me with protection. His truth surrounds me with safety. His Word is a lamp to each step I take. It illuminates my life’s journey. The Word of God is my protection, my shield, and my powerful weapon in battle. It makes my way plain before me. I do not stumble into enemy territory, because my steps are ordered in the Word.

God bless you my friend,
