VB013 A Wall of Protection

Building a Wall of Protection

[Ps 5:3; Eph 6:18; Heb 4:12; 1Jn 1:9; Prov 28:13]

I want to suggest some actions you can take that will build a wall of protection around you for the last days’ troubles. Here are some easy steps to take to begin to prepare, and to reinforce, a wall of protection around you and your family.

1. Morning Prayer

Start everyday with prayer. Prayer is the foundation for your wall. Psalm 5:3, shows us David’s commitment to spend time with God every morning. (Your assignment: Read Psalm 5 – It is for today!)

Psalms 5:3 (NIV) – In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

In the morning: is used twice for emphasis. David knew the importance of having his first thoughts of the day in prayer.

Wait expectantly: (KJV translated this “looking up,”) David had a daily prayer strategy with purpose and expectation. Every morning David not only prayed, he would look up to the Lord for the answer.

You need to start every morning with the Lord “looking up” – or life will quickly take you down. If you ignore this spiritual principle, you will end up troubled, nervous, and worried – and you will lack spiritual power in your life. On the other hand, if you do this, you will remain in a state of abiding peace, able to walk through each day with expectation and confidence. You’ll experience the power to overcome the daily problems you face in life.

You can actually learn to live in constant fellowship with the Lord in prayer.

Ephesians 6:18 – Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

You may ask, “Is praying always, really possible?” Yes – learn to do it. When you purposely begin each day with prayer, it affirms that you are serious about your commitment to God. It opens your heart to receive from Him. It will establish the mode for your day as you expect God’s guiding presence and His goodness to manifest in your life.

As you set your heart to begin each day in prayer, and to stay in a prayerful frame of mind during the day, you’ll find yourself becoming more spiritually aware of the things around you. A prayerful mind set will enhance and sustain your spiritual sensitivity, which is exactly what you need in these last days.

2. Read the Bible every day.

Make a commitment to read your Bible every day as part of a plan to build a wall of protection around your life. In Psalm 119:105, it says; “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” You must determine that the Word of God will be the guiding light that leads you down every path, and in every decision you make in life.

God told Joshua in Joshua 1:7 (NIV), “…Do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” According to this verse, a great part of your daily victory depends on you faithfully sticking with the Word of God, and not allowing other voices or ideas to sidetrack you. By taking time to read the Bible and allowing its words to enter into your heart and mind, you give God the opportunity to do a supernatural work in your heart and to keep your soul free from the enemy’s entrapment.

Make God’s Word the highest priority of your life. It has transforming power just for you. Hebrews 4:12 reveals this;

Hebrews 4:12 (KJV) – For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

In these last days, it is vital for you to have the Bible in your heart and at your disposal to successfully defeat the enemy forces that will continually bombard your mind. Today, many “Christians” feed their bodies three hot meals a day and give their spirits only one cold snack on Sundays. Get in the Word, and stay in the Word, Feed your spirit, and you will have great success.

3. Be quick to confess sin, and be cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

A part of your strategic plan of building a wall of protection around you is to quickly get sin under the blood of Jesus. We all commit sin – unintentional, intentional – it doesn’t matter, as soon as you realize that you have missed the mark of righteousness, quickly activate First John 1:9, one of my favorite promises of God!

1 John 1:9 (NIV) – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Otherwise, if we ignore or try to hide sin, it clogs up spiritual arteries and hinders the flow of the Holy Spirit. Sin weakens our wall of protection and makes us vulnerable to enemy attacks.

Proverbs 28:13 (NIV) – Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Quickly confess sin to the Lord and the sluggishness will leave, and forgiveness and mercy will come as the blood of Jesus cleanses your soul.

Please keep in mind that this wall of protection is not a place to hide from the enemy until Jesus comes. Rather it is a place for you and your loved ones to prepare for battle. A warrior is always ready for a victorious fight!

Proclamation:

I am building a strong wall of protection. Prayer is the foundation of my wall. Start everyday with prayer. I fellowship with God and expectantly wait for Him to talk with me. Spiritual power is evident in my life. I am able to walk through each day with expectation and confidence. I have the power and abiding peace to overcome daily problems in life.

God’s Word makes my wall of protection strong. It works like a lamp to my feet, and a light on my path. The Word of God is a guiding light that helps in every decision I make in life. I have great success because, I live in the Word and I will not stray to the right or to the left of what the Word of God says to me.

I have confessed and repented today for missing the mark. I have forgiveness and mercy for the blood of Jesus has cleansed my soul.

God bless you my friend,
