VB004 Bless The Lord

Bless The Lord

[Ps 103:1-5; Eph 1:3; Lk 5:20-21; 1Cor 6:20; Ps 107:2]

The soul contains the mind, the will, and the emotions. So your thought process takes place in your soul, and you decide what to think and say. David knew this, because he said;

Psalm 103:1-5 (NASB) Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. [2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; [3] Who pardons [forgives] all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; [4] Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; [5] Who satisfies your years [or life] with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

David spoke to his soul and commanded it to bless the Lord. Self-talk is important. Sometimes we need to tell our minds what to think.

In her book, Divine Medicine for Divine Health, my wife writes, “When you don’t feel like praising the Lord and thanking him for your healing, you need to give yourself a good talking-to. Tell your soul (your mind, will and emotions) to get with it!” What she was saying was – You need to remind yourself to be in control of your thoughts and words! (Deb’s book is on our download page, you should go get it!)

Many places in the Psalms tell us to “bless the Lord” or “thank the Lord.” The Bible tells us to “praise the Lord” and we need to remind ourselves to praise the Lord! Faith looks forward, but we also need to remember our past blessings which are a source of encouragement and faith.

Paul encouraged us to bless the Lord.

Eph 1:3 (KJV) –Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings [His benefits] in heavenly places in Christ:

Blessed means (literally) to speak well of someone, to bless (to thank or invoke a good hope upon). To prosper another person or thing with a word.

Paul often blessed the Lord in his letters to fellow believers. And we bless the Lord because He has blessed us. When we realize what God has done for us, it is easy to decide to magnify His name and speak good things about Him.

His benefits include salvation and healing:

Lk 5:20-21 (KJV) – And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. [21] And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

Have you ever wondered why, in Luke chapter 5, when the paralytic was lowered through the roof, the scribes and Pharisees freaked out when Jesus forgave the man of his sins?

Well back in Psalm 103:3 the Hebrew word salach, (saw-lakh’) is translated to forgive or pardon, and it is used 46 times in the OT and every time it is God doing the forgiving. This word is never used to depict a man forgiving anyone else. These scribes knew the scriptures well. This explains their shock when they heard Jesus say, “your sins are forgiven” (Lk 5:20). They responded, “who can forgive sins but God alone?” (Lk 5:21)

It is interesting to me, that forgiveness and healing are here in the same verse – as it is in Psalms 103:3. Salvation and healing are so closely knit together, that Jesus answered them with, “Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins have been forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk?’” (Lk 5:23). Praise the Lord! You see, Jesus paid for sin and sickness — all His benefits come with redemption! It is His will to heal you! The Lord would no more put sickness on us – than He would cause us to sin (see 1Pet 2:24).

Here is another scripture that includes both physical healing and spiritual salvation: (We bless the Lord and forget none of His benefits.)

1Cor 6:20 – For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Bought: Greek agorazo; to go to the slave market, i.e. (by implication) to purchase; specially to redeem – to buy a slave in order to set free, redeem.

Glorify: from the Greek word doxazo (dox-ad’-zo) to glorify, honor. This verb calls for a commitment to a decisive and effective choice. A command to “do this!” Make this happen! (Don’t just try!) Begin now!

Body and spirit means He paid for your physical healing and your spiritual salvation! BLESS THE LORD!

David said in Psalm 103 verse 3, and Paul said in First Corinthians 6:20 that our salvation and healing come together. Jesus confirmed His saved-healed redemption package in Luke 5:20. So why is it so hard for us to say we are healed, yet so easy to say we are saved? Let the redeemed say so. Let the healed say so!

Ps 107:2 (KJV) –Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Let’s bless the LORD, And forget none of His benefits. Glory to God!

A sick body does not glorify God – when you need healing, speak to your body – remind it of God’s benefit package!

I know you may not be used to speaking God’s Word, but you can start by reading the Bible and reminding yourself to control your thoughts. We need to tell ourselves what to say. That is why I include a proclamation or prayer in these messages. Use those words like ammunition against the enemy’s fiery darts. Begin by blessing The Lord! And thank Him for all your benefits of salvation that includes healing!

Proclamation or Declaration:

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me. Bless His holy name. I am redeemed. No longer a slave to sin, I belong to God. Therefore, I choose to glorify God in my spirit and in my body. I’M SAVED, HEALED AND DELIVERED!

My brain belongs to God and I command it to bless His holy Name! I am going to make this happen! I am in control of my thoughts, and I Bless the LORD in Jesus’ Name, and I remember all His blessings! Pain and sickness, you leave my body NOW! I am redeemed. Bless the Lord!

You were bought with a price, now get with it and thank the Lord for it! It will change your life for the better. Glorify and honor God in your thoughts words and actions today, in Jesus’ Name!

God bless you my friend,
