P022 The Importance of Speaking the Word
The Importance of Speaking the Word
[Rom 10:9-10; James 1:22; Mt 4:4; 1Cor 10:4]
We could live our entire lives only thinking about the Word of God and never see anything happen. Never speaking it, and never seeing any blessings happen, never seeing any promises fulfilled, never seeing any lives changed.
Rom 10:9-10 (NASB) that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; [10] for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
There is no salvation by thinking only. We must speak with our mouth, “Jesus is Lord.” There must be a confession of faith. There must be a proclamation or interaction with God’s Word to see the results of His promises. Our Heavenly Father wants an acknowledgment, a conversation with his children. And certainly if He is going to operate through us, we must allow Him to speak through us.
James 1:22 (NKJV) –But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
What you believe in your heart will come out of your mouth. Out of the abundance of the heart your mouth speaks (Mt 12:34), not out of the abundance of your thoughts. Even though we should think before we speak.
Salvation comes because we believe what God has said, and we believe what we say when our words agree with God’s Word.
Thinking healing will not bring healing, thinking about a breakthrough in finances will not bring prosperity. Thinking about resisting the devil will not get the job done. We must speak to mountains and devils, and believe what we say when we say it in order to receive the promise, or the realization of a thing (Mk 11:23-24).
Jesus overcame the enemy by speaking the word of God when He quoted Moses:
Mt 4:4, “Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
In order to survive in this life, in the darkness of this world, we have to open our mouth and speak like Jesus spoke. Jesus was filled with the Spirit, and when He spoke, he spoke Spirit. God’s Word is Spirit and life.
We must be filled with the Spirit, and we must speak God’s Word in order to be victorious over the enemy as Jesus was.
1Cor 10:4, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
Jesus said if you are thirsty come to Me and drink, and if you drink of Him you will never thirst again (Jn 4:14). We need to drink in the Word of God. The Word of God is spirit and life. We need to drink and be filled with the Spirit, so the Words of the Spirit can be used for spiritual battle.
Without drinking in the Holy Spirit by reading God’s Word, without interacting with His Word by speaking it out loud, you’ll never see much victory. You must keep being filled with the Holy Spirit. In order to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit, we must continually take on the responsibility of drinking and speaking the Word of God.
God bless you my friend,
