VB164 Where Faith Comes From
Where Faith Comes From
[1Jn 5:4; Eph 2:8; 6:10-18; Rom 10:6-17]
Let’s thank God for His Word:
Father, I thank you for your Word. I ask you to use me to share this Word accurately with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. I praise you and thank you for it, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Now, let’s look again at the powerful promise that “…everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith (1Jn 5:4).
So we can know more about this powerful weapon we can use against the world system.
Remember Paul’s list of weaponry?
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might….Put on the full armor of God….For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places….Therefore, take up the full armor of God…. having belted your waist with truth….the breastplate of righteousness….feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace….IN ADDITION TO ALL, taking up THE SHIELD OF FAITH….And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God….pray at all times in the Spirit, (Eph 6:10-18).
Faith is involved in every weapon concerning our spiritual warfare. It has everything to do with a believer’s life. All of this is what God has provided for us to overcome the world – even our faith!
As we learn more about faith, we become more proficient using it. We become better at walking in Christ and combating the storms of life. Faith is vital to having victory!
Again, once we know where faith comes from, and when we know how it is released, then we realize victory over the enemy.
As we learn more about our powerful weapon of warfare that enables us to overcome the world, we must put ourselves in a position of belief. We believe we receive it. Believe everything we hear from the Word of God!
Believe what you are hearing – this is God’s Word speaking to you. That is why when you listen, you need to get your Bible and see it and read for yourself. Use every tool available to get the Word of God into your heart.
Who has this world-overcoming kind of faith? We know that it is whosoever has been born of God overcomes the world. So any born-again believer must have faith! If he didn’t have faith, he would not have been born again, since we’re saved by grace through faith.
By now, you should be able to say that you have faith, and that you will never again doubt having faith. Now sometimes you may not feel like you have faith, but we don’t live by feelings! Jesus said He would never leave us or forsake us even to the end of the world, and greater is He that is in us than he who is the world.
When you are feeling low and down-and-out, that’s when you look at what the Bible says about you! Remember in Christ you are lifted up and empowered by His Spirit! His Word needs to become “our” word!
Rom 10:6-17 (KJV) – [6] But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) [7] Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) [8] But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. [12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. [13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. [14] How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? [15] And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! [16] But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? [17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
v. 6-7, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) [7] Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
You can’t bring Jesus down from heaven to touch you! You have His Spirit on the inside of you, if you are born again. You can’t dig Him up from the grave – that would deny the resurrection – that say that you were not a Christian!
v. 11, But, “Whosoever” tells us that “God is no respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34).
v.17, “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of God”
Paul’s recipe for faith;
- faith came from hearing the Word
- that the preacher preached
- when he was sent
- to the whosoever
- that called on the name of the Lord
- who then spoke with his mouth that Jesus is Lord!
If you have heard the Word of God, and you believe in your heart that Jesus has been raised from the dead. Then you know you are born again, so the faith of God is there! Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
After you are born again, faith still comes the same way. Faith has been born into your spirit being. You need to realize (believe) it is in there, whether you feel it or not. Faith didn’t come by feeling. Faith didn’t come by praying for it. We believe because of the Word of God. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
And, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. Whosoever has heard the Word and believed it, and made Jesus the Lord of his life, is born again, and the faith of God is in his heart! You have just as much faith as any other whosoever! Faith does need to be developed, and we are going to talk about that later.
Eph 2:8 (ESV) – For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Born again men and women have the faith of God!
Our Declaration:
I was endowed with faith in my spirit when eternal life was ministered to my spirit, and I was born again. The Spirit of God came on the inside of me.
I am born of His Spirit, so I have His faith. My Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Jesus, by His Spirit came inside of me to live, and he brought his faith with him. I have the faith of God!
God bless you my friend,
