VB117 The Sower
The Sower
[Mt 13; Mk 4; Lk 8]
The battle is on from the first moment God’s Word is spoken into the heart.
In these days of temptation that we live in, it is crucial to understand the nature of this all-out war that Satan has launched against the church. We must know satan’s tactics and realize our position and authority that will render him powerless in our lives.
The parable of the sower is found in Matthew 13, Mark 4, and Luke 8. When we hear the parable of the sower preached, we seem to hear all the details about soil conditions, etc. I want to focus on the sower for a bit.
Jesus is the sower – then the church. Not just leaders of the church, but all the members of the body should become sowers. We all need sowers to fill in the places where the soil wasn’t ready before, but now is able to receive and germinate the seed.
The seed is the Word of God. We must receive the Word and act on it. To think you don’t need the Word, is one the enemy’s strongest temptations. Anyone who thinks they can do without the Word of God, is in serious trouble, maybe even lost.
The devil’s scheme to this temptation can be hear in the words, “I don’t like that preacher” or “I just don’t like the way she sounds.” For whatever reason – you judge one sower, it will limit your ability to receive seed from your favorites. Immature stubbornness will keep you messed up, until you repent.
Don’t allow those those hard spots in your heart to become bird feeders. The sower is not for entertainment. This is not about how we feel. This is eternal stuff. It is about seeds that will produce a harvest for the Kingdom of God. A sign of spiritual maturity is being able to worship and receive the Word in any congregation, from any sower. You can receive the seeds, and become a sower yourself.
God bless you my friend,
