Approaching God

1. The command to approach God.

2. How can we approach God?
   1. From God's standpoint.
      1. The Father draws us to Himself -- Jn. 6:44
      2. Jesus is the way to the Father -- Jn. 14:6; Rom. 5:2; Eph. 3:12; 1 Pet. 3:18
      3. The Spirit enables us to come near -- Eph. 2:18
   2. From our standpoint.
      1. We must believe -- Rom. 5:2; Heb. 11:6
      2. We must live clean obedient lives -- Ps. 24:3-5; Mt. 5:8
      3. We must pray to the Father -- Mt. 6:6
      4. We must call upon God's Name -- Ps. 145:18
3. Promises to those who approach God.
   1. We will find God -- Dt. 4:29; 2 Ch. 15:2
   2. God will listen to us -- 2 Kgs. 13:4
   3. God will forgive us -- 2 Ch. 7:14
   4. God will make a covenant with us -- Isa. 55:3
   5. God will bless us -- Ps. 65:4
   6. We can have confidence before God -- Eph. 3:12; Heb. 4:16; 1 Jn. 5:14
