The Eternal Spirit
Hebrews 9:14
Hebrews 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Heb. 9:14. The writer is comparing the earthly sanctuary (Old Testament temperal sacrifices) with the heavenly sanctuary, the new and better covenant, the eternal sacrifice of Jesus.
It was through the power of the eternal Spirit that Jesus was enabled to live His life in a way that made Him without spot. And it was through the power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus was enabled to go through with the sacrifice of Himself. If Jesus was dependent on the Holy Spirit to accomplish all that He did, who do we think we are that we can be less dependent on the Holy Spirit?
