1 Cor. 7:7-8 (NKJV) For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that. [8] But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am;
It was typical for people in Bible times to be married and have children. However the apostle Paul counted it as a gift from God to remain single. This gift enabled him to devote himself more fully to "the Lord's affairs."
It is better to remain single than to marry an unbeliever against God's will. The Bible also makes it plain that those who are not married should maintain sexual purity.
